Pitru Dosha Nivaran

Pitru Dosha occurs when ancestors are dissatisfied due to improper death rites, unfulfilled wishes, broken promises, or karmic debts from their lifetime. This dissatisfaction creates an energetic disturbance that manifests as recurring problems in the lives of their descendants — creating a cycle that can persist for up to seven generations if not properly addressed.

Common manifestations of Pitru Dosha include: unexplained infertility across multiple couples in the family, repeated miscarriages, premature deaths, persistent financial difficulties despite hard work, chronic diseases that don't respond to treatment, recurring nightmares about deceased family members, and property disputes among siblings. If three or more of these symptoms are present simultaneously, Pitru Dosha should be strongly suspected.

Acharya Pandit Vishnu Sharma identifies the specific ancestors requiring pacification through detailed kundali analysis — examining the 9th house (ancestors), the Sun (father's lineage), Moon (mother's lineage), and the presence of specific Pitru Dosha combinations involving Rahu, Ketu, and Saturn.

The most auspicious period for Pitru Dosha Nivaran is during Pitru Paksha (the 16-day ancestral worship period in the Hindu calendar). However, Amavasya (new moon days), specific Tithis calculated from the ancestor's death date, and Mahalaya Amavasya are also effective. For severe cases, the nivaran can be performed immediately regardless of date.

The Pind Daan ceremony is the most sacred component. The rice balls (pind) symbolically represent the ancestors' spiritual bodies. When offered with the proper mantras, they provide nourishment and satisfaction to the ancestral souls, resolving their unfulfilled desires and liberating them from the cycle of discontent that was affecting their descendants.
